Bill Maher’s Stance Against Liam Neeson And Horse-Drawn Carriages & Updated Vegan Celebrity News

During a recent Real Time interview with Mayim Bialik about her new book Mayim’s Vegan TableBill Maher revealed his awareness of the issues surrounding veganism by describing himself as “an infrequent eater of meat.”

Image 6-21-14 at 1.59 PMIn yet another show of compassion for the animals, Bill Maher took a strong stance against Liam Neeson for supporting New York City’s horse-drawn carriages in a recent video shot at PETA’s Stand Up For Animals Benefit at LA’s Comedy Store.

You can watch this video on Girlie Girl Army, and read some of Bill Maher’s quotes which include…

“My life-long Liam Neeson fandom has ended, I can’t stand to look at him. Why a guy would go out of his way to champion animal abuse, I have no idea.”

Coincidentally, I have tickets to see Bill Maher perform at the NYCB Theatre at Westbury on June 29. It will be interesting to see if he comments on issues of animal abuse during his performance. Of course, I’ll report back to you if he does!

MORE VEGAN CELEBRITY NEWS…

Image 6-21-14 at 2.05 PMWhile checking out one of my favorite vegan websites The Discerning Brute, I learned that actor Peter Dinklage of Game of Thrones doesn’t eat meat, and that Billy Bob Thornton is a vegan. Who knew? Wait a minute! Billy Bob Thornton? Didn’t he drink Angelina’s blood at one time or another? Or did they just wear each others’ blood in vials around their necks? Whatever!

Visit The Discerning Brute to get the details, and to see Peter Dinklage’s new PETA video in which he discusses his choice not to eat animals. You’ll also be able to read some of  Billy Bob Thornton’s statements about veganism.

EVEN MORE IN VEGAN CELEBRITY NEWS…

MV5BMTQ1NTQwMTYxNl5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTYwMjA1MzY1._V1_SX214_CR0,0,214,317_AL_I’m a bit late to the party, but I just came across an article in Mother Nature Network, posted on April 17, 2014, reporting that actor Samuel L. Jackson has been inspired to go vegan by Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn. Apparently, the actor read Dr. Esselstyn’s book Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease and consulted with Dr. and Mrs. Esselstyn at their home expressing his desire to live forever.

According to the MNN article, Jackson drew attention at the media tour for Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier with his svelte new frame which was 40 pounds lighter.

“I feel great. I have a lot more energy than I used to have,” stated Jackson to Ecorazzi. “I sleep better. I like the way I look in my clothes better. I don’t cramp as much. I exercise better. I think my circulation has gotten better.”

 AND FINALLY…

Unknown-2Suzy Amis Cameron, wife of Titanic director James Cameron, and her sister, Rebecca, will make history with their environmentally-friendly MUSE School in Calabasas, California which will be the first vegan school in the United States by the fall of 2015. In an article on the website of ABC Eyewitness News, it is stated that the students not only eat their own school-grown veggies, they do a lot of the work.

“They’re in the gardens, they’re getting dirty, they’re planting the seeds, they’re watching the vegetables grow,” said Suzy Amis Cameron.

The Amis sisters stated that they’re not trying to convert their students, and that it goes beyond a healthy diet – it’s their effort to reduce the school’s carbon footprint.
