I just came back from shopping at my local Whole Foods where I was extremely excited to spot this for the very first time…

I could not control myself from grabbing a few boxes which were calling out my name from the freezer section. As I placed them in my cart, I continued to search for other varieties. Although my local Whole Foods Market doesn’t carry them yet, I later learned that Daiya also makes a Fire-Roasted Vegetable and a Margherita style pizza (in addition to the Cheeze Lover’s and Mushroom & Roasted Garlic pizzas shown in the photos above).
So, I ran home and eagerly popped the two I bought into the oven. I was really hungry and couldn’t wait to try them since I am a huge fan of Daiya’s other products. I absolutely love Daiya’s Jalapeño Garlic Flavored Havarti Style Wedge! I haven’t had a frozen pizza since my pre-vegan days when “Ellio’s” was my pizza of choice.
I followed the directions on the back of the box and placed both pizzas (I told you I was hungry!) directly on the middle rack after pre-heating the oven to 500 degrees. The directions said to bake the pizza for 13-17 minutes, so I set the oven timer for 15 minutes. The pizza is quite thin crusted and started becoming well-done after only 13 minutes; so shortening the suggested baking time to avoid burning it would be a good idea. Next time, I would actually check the pizza after 10 minutes watching it minute-by-minute thereafter.
In any event, I pulled the pies out from the oven, let them cool down for a minute or so, and performed my taste test. OMG! I started with a Cheeze Lover’s slice and I simply could not believe how good it was for frozen pizza. The crust was thin and crispy, and the blend of mozzarella and cheddar style shreds really did melt and stretch like traditional pizza. And it was so tasty too! The Mushroom & Garlic pizza also had the same “cheeze” blend and it was equally delicious! My husband came home early from work (it happens every Leap Year), devoured the remainder of the pizzas from the tray and stated “Wow, these are really good!”
Why don’t you give the new Daiya pizzas a try and fall in love with frozen pizza all over again like you did when you were a kid? As previously mentioned, they come in four varieties: Cheeze Lover’s, Fire-Roasted Vegetable, Margherita and Mushroom & Roasted Garlic. They are made with the same “melty and stretchy” Daiya Mozzarella and Cheddar Style Shreds that you already love, as well as a crispy gluten-free crust. And they are “Certified Vegan!” You gotta’ love that!
