I just finished watching Marilu Henner on today’s Wendy Williams show and had to post a blog. Although this show was a repeat, today was the first time I saw it and I almost fell off my chair when the “svelte” Marilu walked out onto the stage!! She looked amazingly healthy and in perfect shape. She proudly announced her age (60 years old) stating that “this is what giving up meat and dairy could do.” Wow…she had me at hello!! I also remember being equally impressed by Marilu’s healthy and youthful appearance when I recently saw her interviewed by Piers Morgan. On both shows, Marilu explained that, after she lost both parents, she searched to find a better pathway to health to beat her genetic odds. Her father died of a heart attack at age 52 and her mother died of rheumatoid arthritis at age 58. Marilu stated that after learning as much as she could about how to live a healthy life, she gave up meat and dairy. She clearly made the right choice! Marilu also stated that her sons have never had a glass of milk or a cheeseburger in their entire lives and that they are strong and healthy young adults.
I tried to find a video clip of Marilu Henner talking about her vegan diet on the Wendy Williams show for this blog post, but I had no luck. I did come across this fun clip of Marilu and other celebrities being briefly interviewed at PCRM’s 25th Anniversary Gala which was held on May 22, 2011. For those of you who don’t know, PCRM stands for “Physician’s Committee For Responsible Medicine” which is a non-profit organization promoting preventive medicine through a plant-based diet. My favorite part about this clip is the flashing list of names across the top of the screen. They are of famous vegetarians throughout history including Leo Tolstoy, Confucius, Mark Twain, Mahatma Gandhi, Albert Einstein, Sir Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin and Jesus Christ!!! Hmm..see any common threads? Very interesting!!!
