Skinny Pizza In Roslyn Heights, New York

FYI, today is a national holiday…Vegan Pizza Day!!! I have no idea who dubbed Saturday, June 30, 2012 as Vegan Pizza Day (maybe it was PETA or maybe it was on the agenda of the U.S. Supreme Court along with Obamacare) but I, personally, think it’s a holiday worthy of celebration. In honor of this special day, I just went to SKINNYPIZZA for lunch and devoured a SKINNYVEGGIE 10″ personal pizza on whole wheat crust with organic tomatoes, red onions, black olives, shiitake mushrooms, peppers, broccoli and Daiya cheese. YUMMY!!! For the record, the “3 Brothers Pizza Cafe” in Rockville Center, New York boasts the #1 best vegan pizza in the country as PETA’s choice award (see my post, dated May 28, 2012, entitled “Long Island’s Very Own 3 Brothers Pizza Cafe”).

SKINNY PIZZA, located at 211 Mineola Avenue in Roslyn Heights, New York, is another one of my favorite places to go with my teenage boys since they will make custom vegan pizzas for me while accommodating my sons’ preferences. Their pizza crusts are made with no preservatives or additives and their pizza sauce is 100% organic. In addition to vegan pizzas, SKINNYPIZZA has many clearly marked vegan options on their menu including soups, salads and pastas. They also have clearly marked vegetarian, low fat and gluten-free options and they use pastas which are cholesterol-free, egg- free, low in sodium and high in fiber.

As you can see from the photos below, the pizzas come in cute “sugarcane” boxes which can be used to reheat your pizza at home. The box is biodegradable, compostable, sustainable and tree-free. If you wish, you can also order your food from SKINNYPIZZA on-line. I strongly suggest SKINNYPIZZA for an informal meal with your vegan and non-vegan friends alike. I think that SKINNYPIZZA would be an easy stop for New Yorkers heading out to the Hamptons this summer since it is located immediately off the Willis Avenue exit of the Long Island Expressway. Also note that a new location at the Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, New York will be opening soon.
