The Tea Spot’s “Steep & Chill” And My Top Loose Leaf Tea Picks

Tea has become a large part of my lifestyle since I began my vegan journey in November 2009. I stopped drinking coffee at that time and I believe that tea is a healthier choice for me. Trying different loose leaf teas has become a fun hobby for me, and I have quite a collection of loose leaf teas and tea pots. Now that summer is here, I decided to try The Tea Spot’s “Steep & Chill” which I ordered from their website.

The “Steep & Chill” pitcher makes 32 ounces of ice tea which is perfect for me since I am the only ice tea drinker in my family. It fits nicely into my refrigerator and is very easy to use. You just place the loose tea into the infuser which you attach to the lid. The tea then steeps directly into the pitcher. After the infuser is removed, you could attach a freezer core to the pitcher lid to keep the tea cold.

I used Teavana’s “Blueberry Bliss & Strawberry Lemonade” for my first test run of the “Steep & Chill” and I was very pleased with the outcome. I sweetened the tea with a little bit of Stevia, but you could use agave nectar too. I will definitely enjoy the Tea Spot’s “Steep & Chill” this summer. The “Steep & Chill” sports a sturdy glass pitcher with base and handle, a secure- fitting lid and is BPA-free.

*Please note that 10% of each sale by “The Tea Spot” is donated to cancer and wellness programs.

Although I collect and use a wide variety of loose leaf teas, I am trying to transition into all organic teas. In the interim, I am enjoying the following loose leaf teas which I have narrowed down as my favorites choices:

1. From The Tea Spot which you can order on their website:

Organic Chocolate O (organic black tea & chocolate flavoring)

Organic Green Twisted Spears

Thin Mint Green

Boulder Blues (Green Tea, Strawberry & Rhubarb)

2. From Mountain Rose Herbs which you can order on their website:

Organic Genmaicha Tea

Organic Kukicha Twig Tea (which is also great iced with fresh mint leaves)

3. From Argo Teas which you can buy at their stores throughout NYC:

Green Tea Strawberry (blended with strawberry pieces and vanilla)

Ginger Peach (a black tea with ginger peach flavoring)

4. From Teavana which you can buy at Teavana’s stores or on-line:

Youthberry & Wild Orange Blossom

Blueberry Bliss & Strawberry Lemonade

5. From Rishi Teas which are sold at Whole Foods and on-line:

Organic Green Tea Jasmine Pearls (little balls of green tea which unfold during steeping)

6. From The Art of Tea which you can purchase on their website:

Organic Green Pomegranate (select green tea blended with raspberries & essence of pomegranate)

Organic Apricot Escape (Caffeine-Free)

I hope you enjoy these recommendations!! I plan to do a separate post on my favorite tea pots since I have so many!! I’m going to go now to have a “spot” of tea. Cheerio!!!
