Snacks are a big part of my vegan lifestyle. Although I have my longtime favorites, I have been adding some excellent new ones to the line-up. I thought I’d take this opportunity to list some of the vegan goodies I am currently enjoying. Maybe it will give you some ideas, so here they are…
1. Luna & Larry’s Organic Coconut Bliss Ginger Cookie Caramel Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert
I love coconut milk anything, but my brother recently turned me on to this particular flavor which is really amazing! It is a rich vanilla containing spicy cookies and a creamy caramel. If you are looking to satisfy that sweet tooth of yours, I highly recommend Luna & Larry’s Organic Coconut Bliss Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert in the Ginger Cookie Caramel flavor. It is vegan, soy-free and gluten-free.
2. Annie Chun’s Roasted Seaweed Snacks With Wasabi
These 100% all natural seaweed snacks are a really good source of vitamins and minerals, and the wasabi flavor gives them a real kick. They are low in fat, dairy-free, vegan and gluten-free. Be careful when purchasing seaweed snacks because not all of them are vegan, but these Annie Chun’s are.
3. Endangered Species Natural Dark Chocolate With Sea Salt & Almonds
I have been a huge fan of the Endangered Species Chocolate since I became vegan, but this new flavor with sea salt & almonds knocks it out of the park! I love the natural sea salt flavor combined with the crunchy almond bits. Delicious!
4. Spectrum’s Decadent Blend Chia & Flax Seed With Coconut & Cocoa
Okay, you got me. This new product by Spectrum doesn’t actually qualify as a snack in and of itself. However, it does when sprinkled on Whole Soy & Co. yogurt and mixed with hot and cold cereals. This amazing blend of chia and flax seeds with coconut and cocoa is to die for. The name “Decadent Blend” is perfect! I’ll have to find a way to use this as an ingredient in my baked goods too.
5. Sugar Snap Peas
Since I recently bought my first bag of Trader Joe’s Sugar Snap Peas, I can’t seem to get enough of them. What a healthy, nutritious and satisfying snack!
6. Emmy’s Coconut Vanilla Macaroons
I discovered these crazy good raw vegan macaroons last week while shopping at the Organic Avenue store which recently opened up in my neighborhood. They are a must try!
7. Yum Earth Organic Lollipops
Okay, okay…I know I’m a bit of a baby, but I like a little candy every now and then. These Yum Earth Organic Lollipops are made with real fruit extracts and are better than the lollipops I remember having as a kid. I like to have them while I’m working on the computer.
8. Gwynnie’s Avocado Toast
Gwyneth Paltrow’s simple recipe for avocado toast made with Vegenaise, avocado and salt (I like to add crushed red pepper flakes too) is surprisingly addictive. I can’t stop eating it. Help!
9. Trader Joe’s Just A Handful Of Raw Almonds
Trader Joe’s mini-bags of raw almonds are the perfect snack. They provide you with just the right amount of nuts to nourish and satisy you. The large bag contains 13 little bags which are great for your purse, pocket or bagged lunch (not that I ever make a bagged lunch, but you might).
10. Trader Joe’s Mini-Cafe Twists
I really enjoy these cookie twists with my afternoon or after-dinner cup of tea. I can only describe them as light, fluffy, cinnamony and crunchy. 4 pieces are only 120 calories, and they are vegan too!
11. Edward & Sons Black Sesame Brown Rice Snaps With Daiya Havarti Jalapeño Garlic Style or Jack Style Dairy-Free Wedges
I saved the best for last because this is my favorite snack of all! I absolutely love the Daiya “cheese” wedges, the Havarti Jalapeño Garlic flavor being the spicier of the two. I have been loving the Edward & Sons Black Sesame Rice Snaps for a long time with hummus or even plain; but when Daiya came out with these wedges, I was really happy because they remind me of the cheese and crackers that I loved during my pre-vegan days.
There you have it…a list of all the snacks I have been enjoying over the past few months. I hope I gave you some good ideas. I’d love to hear what snacks have been trending in your lives too!
