Gordon Ramsay is so delightfully dramatic to watch in action on TV—the anger-brewing Brit boils over at every turn of a whisk! Now he’s gotten himself into a veritable pickle with plant-based eaters. Ramsay apparently light-heartedly made a joke about lying to herbivores about what was in a dish he served them. According to the British website, Daily Mail Online, he was asked, “What was your last lie?” for an article in London’s Evening Standard Metro Life magazine. He responded, “”To a table of vegetarians who had artichoke soup. I told them it was made with vegetable stock – it was chicken stock.” PETA didn’t take the comment too lightly and asked the Michelin Guide to revoke his starred status for his restaurants. Ramsay regretfully apologized for his remarks and his people reportedly said, “He takes vegetarians very seriously. He has a lot of vegetarian customers and he would never, ever do that.” The news website reported that Ramsey has a long-standing “feud” with vegetarians and loves to joke about it. Of course, restaurants need to be truthful about what’s in our food and what isn’t (no matter how many Michelin stars they’ve earned) but Ramsay is great entertainment and I don’t think he’ll be doomed to hell’s kitchen for his jest!

London’s Daily Mail Online: “Ramsay Says Sorry to Veggies”

Maybe Gordon deserved this little pickle he got himself into! Maybe it’s time that chefs stop thinking that haute cuisine can only be made with animal products and that vegetarians are just “pains in the you know what.” Truth be told, I’m not a big fan of his.
I don’t care how great a chef he is. He seems like a terrible person! Would never go near anything he cooked.
I happen to agree with you Shana! This post may have been a bit too kind to nasty Ramsey!
