In the July edition of Vogue magazine, it is reported that fashion model Freja Beha Erichsen has teamed up with Mother jeans’ Tim Kaeding and Lela Tillem Becker to design a vegan-friendly pair of “rock-‘n-roll” faux leather jeans to support Doctors Without Borders. Freja is clearly rockin’ them in the above photo!
According to Vogue, the Williamsburg, Brooklyn-based model has earmarked 10 percent of sales for Doctors Without Borders, and had previously coaxed some of her friends into joining her in donating a day’s salary from their work during October 2011 Paris Fashion Week.
In place of hide, these cool faux leather pants are made of a soft, eco-sensitive fabric that, unlike leather, doesn’t require chemically laden production processes and, unlike PVC, will eventually biodegrade. “They’re more affordable, and you can throw them in the wash,” according to Ms. Erichsen.
Apparently, these Freja+Mother jeans will be available in stores, including Barney’s New York, in September.
I’m lovin’ it! Ethical style at its best!

Debby, Thanks for posting this! Fashionable faux leather jeans + vegan-friendly is fantastic! Thumbs up for Freja+Mother Jeans! Do you know what shoes the model is wearing in that photo in July Vogue?
Your welcome! These are great jeans, aren’t they? I don’t know what shoes the model is wearing in the photo. I misplaced the Vogue magazine. Not even sure if they’re vegan. Thanks for the nice comment!
She is wearing Jommy Choo shoes 🙂
Oh, not vegan. Oh well. The pants are still good!
